Disney Fantasy Launched in NY

John Pond BLOG: One of the most anticipated ship launchings took place last week in New York at Pier 88 at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. Disney Cruise Lines’ newest Fairy Godmother, Mariah Carey, officially named their latest ship “Disney Fantasy”.

It was a star studded event, apart from Mariah Carey, guests were treated to the talents of Master of Ceremonies Neil Patrick Harris, comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld, Tony Award winner Heather Headley who was in the original Lion King on Broadway and more. During Harris’ walk through the audience, he interviewed New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, who dropped in briefly for the occasion, Mayor Bloomberg said “The Fantasy is a fantastic boat, we’re thrilled that Disney decided to christen it here.”

Disney will be placing their older ships on the West Coast of the US, making them more available to Australian cruisers, who have baulked at the extra flying time to reach the East Coast to board a Disney cruise. We will, I feel, be hearing a lot more about Disney Cruises in Australia. John Pond

Producer at Fox Studios in Los Angeles. Co-creator of hit US network TV show Joker, Joker, Joker, first TV show to give away a million dollars.
